Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Axcis Education are thrilled to be offering a new role as a Learning Support Assistant at a mainstream secondary school in Taunton. This role is supporting students with various SEND needs including autism and challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will be personable, calm and patient. The daily pay rate for this job is £93.48 (£14.66/hr) and the working hours are between 8.30am to 3.30pm. Responsibilities for this role include: - Handling meltdowns caused by over-stimulation using various strategies such as finding a quiet space to work in, distraction using tools and de-escalation techniques - Tailoring the work in lessons to suit the needs and ability of the student - Collaborating with wider school staff to work towards the student’s education healthcare plans (EHCPs) - Supporting the student’s academic achievement using positive reinforcement techniques The school are looking for an individual with a good knowledge and experience of working with children with SEND in a school setting. A professional manner and the understanding of how to build self-esteem in others is also a must. This role would be perfect for someone who is hoping to/ is currently completing a PGCE. Requirements for this role include experience working with individuals with ASD, challenging behaviour and SEMH, strong spoken and written English skills, a passion for supporting students with SEND.
