Axcis are working with a new alternative provision supporting both primary and secondary pupils who are school refusers/ leavers due to anxiety, learning needs or trauma. The provision mentors’ students on a 1-1 basis either in their homes, community or in the learning hub in Exeter. The provision is needing several teaching assistants to support both the Teacher and student on a 2-1 basis. Not all referrals need teaching assistants. This is a new requirement for the provision to support students who are either very vulnerable, have a risk assessment or in social services. You could be asked to work one or two shifts a week, either from 10 – 3 or 9.00 – 1:00. The times do vary on the child’s timetable. A driver is desirable but not essential and expenses and travel are paid for. We pay an hourly rate of £13 - £16. You will be supporting the teacher, being an extra of staff for safety purposes and an emotional support to the pupil. Some one with an encouraging, engaging, and nurturing personality who can build relationships with young people and work in a team is essential to be successful in this role.
