Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
1:1 Teaching Assistant – Sherborne
Location: Primary School, Sherborne
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £89 – £95 per day
We are seeking to appoint a committed and professional 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 1 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs at a well-regarded primary school in Sherborne. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is dedicated to helping children reach their full potential in a nurturing and structured learning environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide consistent one-to-one support tailored to the needs of a KS1 pupil with SEMH requirements
- Collaborate effectively with the class teacher to deliver differentiated learning activities
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence
- Assist with classroom preparation, small group interventions, and supervision during playtimes
- Monitor and document pupil progress, contributing to the child’s personalised support plan
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
- Work collaboratively as part of a team, following teacher direction and contributing to the wider school environment
- Exhibit a proactive, reliable, and professional approach to supporting learning
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to transport (essential)
- Ideally have experience supporting children with SEMH needs (training will be provided where required)
