Job Title: 1:! Teaching Assistant Secondary
Axcis Education is supporting a mainstream secondary school in Bristol to recruit a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant for a 1:1 role with a Year 8 pupil. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the education and wellbeing of a student with bespoke needs.
About the Role:
• Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 8 student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Work closely with the school’s HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant), who is ELSA-trained, to build trust and rapport with the student.
• Support the delivery of core subjects and aid the student’s gradual transition into mainstream classes.
• Implement strategies to help manage the student’s high anxiety levels and autism-related challenges.
• Focus on relationship-building to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with autistic students and/or pupils with high levels of anxiety.
• Is patient, empathetic, and understands the importance of building relationships over time.
• Is able to work collaboratively with staff and external professionals to support the student’s reintegration goals.
• Has a calm, flexible, and adaptable approach to working with children with complex needs.
