Axcis is working with a fantastic mainstream secondary school in EX11, East Devon to recruit a 1:1 teaching assistant working with a Year 9 pupil who has with Aspergers / ASD. The school has a very friendly atmosphere and a supportive environment, and is well liked by all staff we have sent to them in the past. It's a supportive vibrant school where students thrive and come to learn. The job is five days a week 8:45-4.00pm and starts at the beginning of Febuary for the spring and summer terms. You will be a role model, mentor and daily support to the pupil you will be working with and will need to be able to quickly build rapport with them. The pupil exhibits challenging behaviour so previous experience of working with in a similar setting is essential. You will need to be adaptable, flexible and you must have an understanding of working with young people with special educational needs and disabilities and have a real desire to make a difference.
