Job Title: ASD Teaching assistant
Location: WN8 Salary: Day rate from £83.40 depending on experience Start Date: Immediate Axcis Education are looking for a passionate and dedicated teaching assistant to work in a primary school setting, providing support to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who need additional support to thrive academically and socially. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be working on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, supporting students with diverse learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, and fostering a nurturing environment to help them succeed. You will play an essential role in the classroom, ensuring that SEND children feel confident, valued, and supported in their learning journey. Key Responsibilities: • Provide tailored support to children with SEND in the classroom, ensuring they are fully included in all activities. • Assist with implementing individual learning plans (IEPs) and help children reach their educational goals. • Provide support in the delivery of literacy, numeracy, and other subjects as required. • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other professionals to deliver effective support. • Support children with personal care needs and other social or emotional challenges. • Foster a safe and positive learning environment for children with SEND. • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and reports where necessary. Requirements: • Experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting. • Understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and a commitment to supporting children with SEND. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team. • A relevant teaching assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3 preferred) or equivalent experience is desirable. • A DBS check will be required (we can assist in obtaining this if necessary).
