1:1 Support Assistant – Primary Pupil with Autism (N17)
Location: Tottenham, N17
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

An inclusive and welcoming primary school in the heart of Tottenham (N17) is seeking a compassionate and skilled 1:1 Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil with Autism.
This young learner is non-verbal and occasionally displays behaviours that challenge. We are looking for someone with patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. Someone local to the area is preferred, as consistency and community connection are key to this role.
The Role
Provide dedicated, 1:1 support throughout the school day
Understand and respond to the pupil’s sensory needs, incorporating regular sensory breaks and calming strategies
Use alternative communication methods (such as PECS, Makaton, or similar) to support interaction and engagement
Help the pupil participate in class activities and navigate transitions smoothly
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to follow and adapt individual support plans
Ideal Candidate
Previous experience supporting children with Autism and/or non-verbal communication
Strong understanding of behaviour support and sensory regulation
Calm, consistent, and nurturing in your approach
Able to build trust and positive relationships over time
Comfortable working as part of a wider support team
Lives locally or has strong knowledge of the local community (preferred)
