Job Title: Autism Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnet, EN4
Contract: Term time only (hours to be confirmed)
Start date: As soon as possible
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to work within our Additional Resource Provision (ARP) in a secondary school in Barnet.
This role involves providing 1:1 support to a teenage male student with Autism. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the student’s learning, emotional regulation, and personal development within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 tailored support throughout the school day
Support with personal care in line with the student’s individual care plan
Manage and respond to challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies
Support access to the curriculum and encourage engagement in learning
Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and planning
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience working with children or young people with ASD and complex needs
Confidence in supporting challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
A patient, empathetic, and firm approach
Willingness to support with personal care
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
Desirable
Previous experience in an ARP, SEN school, or similar setting
