Job Title: Behaviour Mentor - All-Age, ASD-Specific SEND School
Axcis Education is working with an all-age ASD-specific SEND school in Walsall. The school is looking for two Behaviour Mentors to work on a full-time basis (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm). the schools is looking for staff who will foster their values of "team work, equality, happiness, confidence and kindness". The role is to provide direct and indirect support to the children and young people as well as the class teams in relation to primary and secondary aged children displaying challenging behaviour stemming from not being able to understand the world around them and/or regulate their emotions. You must already have experience working with individuals whom display challenging behaviour and have the ability to work with teachers and teaching assistants regarding behaviour. The role is to start after ASAP and is a fantastic opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant/HLTA who is looking to be more involved in supporting children and young people to regulate their behaviour and emotions. This is a temporary to permanent position, meaning that the school will offer a permanent contract to the right candidate after a trial period. The ability to write reports, and to have input into behaviour plans are essential, as the role is to start ASAP, you must already be equipped with the skill and knowledge that the schools require. Below are some of the responsibilities, but this is not exhaustive: To work flexibly at different times of the day/week, supporting multiple children/young people in positive activities. To support teachers and class teams in identifying triggers to behaviours, creating and implementing behaviour plans. To monitor behaviour plans and reassess and and when required.
