Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities and helping them develop positive behavioural skills? Axcis Education are currently looking for a dedicated and caring behaviour support assistant to join our team, working in a primary school setting to support children with SEND, promoting positive behaviour, and creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with children with SEND, helping them to develop their social, emotional, and behavioural skills. You will support children on a one-to-one or small group basis and work in collaboration with teachers, SENDCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other professionals to implement behavioural strategies that promote a positive and calm classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing tailored support to children with SEND to manage and regulate their behaviour in the classroom and during other school activities.
• Supporting children with developing social and emotional skills and promoting positive interactions with peers.
• Assisting teachers in creating and implementing behaviour plans and strategies to address specific needs.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, de-escalating situations, and providing calming strategies when necessary.
• Recording and reporting behavioural incidents and progress to relevant staff members, including the SENDCO and parents.
• Working with small groups or individual students to support their learning, behaviour, and personal development.
• Providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
• Offering guidance and support to staff on behaviour management strategies.
Key Requirements:
• Experience working with children, particularly those with SEND or behavioural challenges, is essential.
• Strong knowledge and experience in supporting children with challenging behaviour and promoting positive behaviour.
• A patient, calm, and empathetic approach to working with children.
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, SENDCOs, and other support staff.
• A proactive and positive attitude, with the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
• A Child and Adult DBS is required. If you do not currently hold one, we can assist with the process.
