SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary School
Location: Brentford area
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:30am–3:30pm | Friday, 8:30am–3:00pm
Start Date: 30th November
Role: SEMH Teaching Assistant
About the Role
Axcis Education is currently working with a school in the Brentford area that is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as vulnerable students.
The school is looking for someone who is a strong match for the students, rather than simply someone to fill a Teaching Assistant position.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience working with SEMH students and be confident in building positive relationships with young people who may have become disengaged from education.
This role would suit someone who is active, enthusiastic and able to engage students through activities such as sport, board games and other interests, while helping them re-engage with learning, develop positive routines and build confidence.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have experience working with young people, ideally within an SEMH, alternative provision or similar environment.
Have a genuine interest in supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
Be confident building strong, positive relationships with students who may be disengaged from education.
Be patient, resilient and supportive, with the ability to manage challenging situations appropriately.
Be active and enthusiastic, with the ability to engage students through sport, board games and other activities.
Support students in developing positive routines and gradually re-engaging with learning.
Have a PE or sports background (advantageous but not essential).
About the School
The school is part of a larger trust and invests heavily in its staff, facilities and the quality of education it provides to students.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive setting where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who need additional support.
