Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to join a Secondary School with a Resourced Provision for Hearing Impaired Students in Leeds. In this role, you will support students in accessing the curriculum and achieving their full potential. The successful candidate will utilise their British Sign Language skills to provide essential communication support and foster a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with hearing impairments in accessing lessons and school activities using British Sign Language
Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning plans and adapting resources to meet the needs of students.
Provide 1:1 or small group support for students to help them overcome learning barriers and achieve their goals.
Promote students’ social, emotional, and academic development, encouraging independence and confidence.
Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure students receive a high-quality, inclusive education.
Monitor and report on student progress, communicating effectively with staff and parents.
Qualifications and Skills:
Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language is essential.
Previous experience working in a school or supporting students with hearing impairment
A strong understanding of the needs of deaf students and inclusive education practices.
Patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students and staff.
