Job Title: Communication Support Worker Location: Wetherby Pay: £100.00 - £120.00 per day, depending on experience Start Date: As soon as possible Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated Communication Support Worker to join a Specialist School based in Wetherby. The school caters for a diverse group of learners aged 2-19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, communication difficulties and those with a diagnosis of autism. In this role, you will support students in accessing the curriculum and achieving their full potential. The successful candidate will utilise their British Sign Language skills to provide essential communication support and foster a positive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Support students with hearing impairments in accessing lessons and school activities using British Sign Language Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning plans and adapting resources to meet the needs of hearing impaired students. Provide 1:1 or small group support for students to help them overcome learning barriers and achieve their goals. Promote students’ social, emotional, and academic development, encouraging independence and confidence. Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure students receive a high-quality, inclusive education. Monitor and report on student progress, communicating effectively with staff and parents. Qualifications and Skills: Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language is essential. Previous experience working in a school or supporting students with Learning Disabilities, Communication Needs and Hearing Impairment The post holder may be required to physically intervene with pupils who are at risk of harming themselves or others, up to date Team Teach Training is highly advantageous To attend to pupils’ personal needs including social, health, physical and hygiene needs Patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students and staff.
