Job Title: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education are proud to represent a 3-19 special school in the North Bristol area who are seeking to appoint an experienced teaching assistant with the necessary skills to support pupils with complex needs. This is a consistently Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ school with high hopes of achieving an ‘Outstanding’ judgement in their next Ofsted report.
At this school, the successful complex needs teaching assistant would be supporting students daily in a 1-1 context by implementing individual learning journeys which allow students to make the best possible progress in the curriculum. There are consistently high expectations at this school, and you would benefit from the support of an experienced and professional staff body.
On a daily basis, the successful complex needs teaching assistant would be expected to:
• Demonstrate consistently high expectations of students in line with school policy;
• Collaborate with other members of staff to support students to achieve their education, health care plan objectives;
• Promote independent learning for students in your care across a range of pathways, including academic and life-skill based learning;
• Encouraging students to develop social, emotional and communication skills.
The successful complex needs teaching assistant will ideally have:
• A relevant professional qualification such as NCFE CACHE Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or from another sector such as Residential Care
• Proven experience of working with children and young people with complex special educational needs (SEND)
• An empathetic and understanding nature with the ability to foster positive professional relationships with pupils
• Excellent communication skills
• An Enhanced DBS Certificate which is registered with the Update Service, or a willingness to process a new application
This is a full-time role starting ASAP, working between the hours of 08:30 and 15:45 Monday-Friday during term-time. Pay for this position is competitive starting at £83.40 per day on PAYE, dependent on experience. This is a long-term post - initially temporary with a look to becoming permanent.
