A respected SEND school in Slough is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their committed team this September. This opportunity offers stable, long-term work with consistent hours and the prospect of a permanent role for the right candidate. The school provides tailored education and care to pupils of all ages with a diverse range of needs — including autism, ADHD, SEMH, Down’s syndrome, physical disabilities, complex medical conditions and cerebral palsy. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as you’ll work across various classes and key stages depending on where the need is greatest. Your role will include: ? Supporting pupils during lessons and structured activities to help them access the curriculum ? Encouraging and modelling positive social interaction and communication skills ? Assisting with sensory activities, therapy sessions and educational outings ? Providing one-to-one and small group support based on individual learning plans ? Helping pupils develop independence in everyday tasks, from organising materials to self-care routines ? Offering emotional reassurance, using de-escalation strategies when behaviour becomes challenging ? Preparing and adapting resources to match different learning styles and abilities ? Assisting with personal care needs respectfully and discreetly ? Maintaining close communication with teachers, therapists and families to ensure consistency of support We’re looking for someone who: ? Has at least three months’ experience in SEND, care or an educational support role ? Demonstrates patience, empathy and resilience when facing challenges ? Is comfortable supporting pupils with complex medical or personal care needs ? Can work flexibly across age groups and learning levels ? Communicates clearly and professionally with staff, pupils and families ? Holds a TA Level 2 qualification (desirable but not essential) ?
