Position: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Surbiton, Surrey
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 08:00?–?15:30
Salary: Paid to scale (according to national pay framework)
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive school community in Surbiton. Working closely with teachers and the SENCO, you will provide tailored support that enables pupils with additional learning needs to achieve their full academic and social potential.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver one-to-one and small-group assistance in classroom settings, reinforcing lesson content and reinforcing study skills.
• Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and record progress accurately.
• Support pupils with sensory, cognitive, communication, or physical needs, adapting resources as required.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and motivating environment that encourages independence.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to share information and coordinate interventions.
• Supervise pupils during lunch, recess, and school trips, ensuring wellbeing at all times.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
• GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics (minimum grade 4/C).
• Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a proactive attitude.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Good organisational skills and proficiency with basic ICT tools.
