Location: Sutton, Greater London
Hours: Monday to Friday, 11am – 2pm (Term Time Only).
Start Date: Tuesday 1st September
Salary: From £14.25 an hour
Axcis are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Lunchtime Cover Assistant to join our dedicated team at our welcoming all-through Special Educational Needs (SEND) school in Sutton, Greater London.
The school caters for pupils with a range of additional needs from primary through to secondary age in a wonderful environment with excellent facilities and a nurturing atmosphere. As a Lunchtime Cover Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring pupils have a safe, enjoyable and positive lunchtime experience. Working closely with teaching and support staff, you will help supervise pupils, encourage independence and support positive behaviour throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise pupils during lunchtime in the dining hall, playground and other designated areas.
• Support pupils with eating, drinking and developing independent life skills where appropriate.
• Encourage positive social interaction and inclusive play.
• Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism and communication needs.
• Ensure the safety, wellbeing and happiness of all pupils during break and lunchtime periods.
• Assist with transitions to and from lunch and support classroom staff when required.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
• Experienced supporting children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs or complex learning needs.
• Kind, patient and compassionate.
• Calm, resilient and able to remain positive in a busy school environment.
• A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Able to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
• Previous experience working in a school, childcare or care setting is desirable.
