Position: Medical Needs Teaching Assistant Type: Full-Time Start Date: January 2025 Salary: £85.00 - £100.00 per day An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Medical Needs Teaching Assistant to join a school in East Leeds catering to students aged 4-16 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The school provides comprehensive support to individuals with autism spectrum conditions, cognitive and learning difficulties, and physical or sensory disabilities. As a Medical Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to pupils who require physical and medical intervention. Your duties will include, but are not limited to, medication administration, feeding, personal care, mental health support, and therapy-based interventions. Key Responsibilities: Provide emergency medical support to pupils as required. Support the Healthcare Supervisor in identifying and monitoring pupils' medical needs. Follow individual healthcare plans and implement prescribed interventions. Assist in managing medications, ensuring proper storage and keeping accurate logs. Attend to pupils’ personal needs and implement related programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters. Communicate effectively with parents and other professionals. Contribute actively to student review meetings to ensure support packages meet the pupils needs. Essential Requirements: Experience working with pupils with a range of SEND. NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistant, or equivalent qualifications. Knowledge of healthcare plans and their implementation. Willingness to support with personal care and toileting. Experience using hoists, walking frames, and standing aids. Experience with therapy and health interventions.
