Pay rate (Per day): £83.40 - £93.50 (Depending on experience)
As a Mental Health Support Assistant through Axcis Education, you will be placed within a school setting to work directly with students who require additional mental health and emotional support. You will play a key role in helping students navigate the challenges they face, providing tailored assistance within the classroom, and working closely with teaching staff to foster a safe, supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Offer one-on-one and small group support for students experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, or behavioural concerns, helping them engage fully in classroom activities.
Be prepared to provide calm and effective support to students in moments of distress, ensuring that safeguarding protocols are followed at all times.
Actively contribute to school-wide initiatives that encourage positive mental health and emotional well-being, supporting a caring and inclusive school culture.
Relevant qualification in mental health, psychology, social work, counselling, or similar field, or equivalent experience in a mental health or SEND environment.
Prior experience working with children or young people with mental health needs, ideally in an educational or classroom setting.
Solid knowledge of common mental health issues affecting young people and a strong grasp of appropriate support strategies.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations.
