Job Title: Part Time English Teacher
Part-Time English Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Location: Lewisham, South East London
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Maternity Cover – Full Academic Year
Working Pattern: Part-time (3 days per week – days to be confirmed)
Salary: Paid to scale
We are currently working with a welcoming and inclusive co-educational all-through academy school in Lewisham, who are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their team from September 2026 on a maternity cover contract for the full academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to contribute to a supportive school community that prides itself on high standards and student achievement across all key stages.
The Role:
Teaching English across relevant key stages (KS3–KS4 and potentially KS5 depending on experience)
Planning, delivering and assessing engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum
Marking students’ work and providing clear, constructive feedback
Supporting students’ academic progress and development
Working collaboratively with colleagues within a well-established English department
The Ideal Candidate:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Has recent UK classroom experience teaching English
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English literature and language
Experience with planning and marking is essential
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage learners of all abilities
A proactive and flexible approach to teaching
