Start Date: 01 September 2025 Location: Smethwick Position Type: Full-time (Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm) Pay: Starting from £13.86 per hour Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding, long-term role? A supportive primary school in Walsall is seeking a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This role is focused on providing consistent, individualised support to a pupil with special educational needs. You'll be a key part of their day-to-day experience—helping them to feel safe, included, and supported both in and out of the classroom. What you’ll be doing: • Offering 1:1 support tailored to the specific needs of a child with SEND • Following the pupil’s EHCP and Individual Education Plan (IEP) • Supporting academic, social, and emotional development throughout the day • Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals • Helping to maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment What we’re looking for: • Previous school-based experience is essential • Proven experience supporting children with SEND, ideally on a 1:1 basis • A calm, patient, and positive approach to behaviour and learning support • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) This is a long-term role, offering stability and the chance to build a strong, trusting relationship with a child who will benefit greatly from consistent support.
