Job Title: Secondary Teaching Assistant
Teaching assistant -Autism
Here at Axcis, we are looking for an teaching assistant with experience of working with autistic pupils. The role is full-time, 8.30 to 3.30 during term time, in a large secondary school in Swindon.
They require a long term TA who has varied SEN experience to support a range of KS3 students. The school has a SEN resource provision and a large team of dedicated teaching and support staff who assist a range of needs including ASD, CLD, and challenging behaviour. Experience supporting SEN conditions would be beneficial alongside having a calm and understanding approach.
Knowledge of PECS, BSL or Makaton would also be desirable as you may be required to support non verbal students.
The ideal candidate will:
-have experience working with students with SEN/ SEND needs, ideally Autism.
-enjoy thinking on their feet and able to adapt the learning to meet the needs of the student
-be able to work in a small team as well as independently
-be able to build and maintain a strong rapport with a range of students
This role is to start in September and is an on-going role. It is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door of such a fantastic school, with potential to lead to a permanent position for the right candidate.
