Axcis Education are currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit in Harrogate, who are looking for SEMH Teaching Assistants to work with KS3 and KS4 students on a 121 basis and in small group settings. You will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs within a classroom environment. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with teachers and other staff members to provide individualised support and interventions to help students overcome barriers to learning. This role requires a strong understanding of SEMH challenges and the ability to employ effective strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions in accordance with the principles of Team Teach.
• Support the delivery of differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and valued.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs).
• Monitor and record student progress and behaviour and provide regular feedback to the teaching team.
• Assist with the preparation of classroom materials and resources as needed.
• Actively participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with SEMH need's.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs.
• A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
• Patience, resilience, and a calm demeanour, especially in challenging situations.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment.
