Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistants
Axcis Education are working closely with a highly reputable SEND school based in South Leeds. The school are looking for a number of SEND Learning Support Assistants, on a long-term basis, starting as soon as possible.
The school caters for a diverse group of learners aged 2 to 19 with range of needs, including moderate to severe learning difficulties, Autism, and social, emotional and mental health needs. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum, enabling individuals to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one support and assistance to students with SEND, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Support students with various activities, ensuring their engagement and participation
Contribute to the implementation of Individual Education Plans and behaviour management strategies.
Support students with personal care needs
Requirements:
Experience of working with children and young people with complex needs, SLD, Autism, SEMH
Experience of implementing Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy Programmes
Knowledge of the Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support Curriculum
A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting the growth and development of students.
Knowledge of Intensive Interaction
Staff must be confident managing challenging situations, whilst remaining calm and consistent in their approach.
Staff must be patient and allow students time to process instructions
A team player who is able to effectively communicate with the wider staff team
