Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (SEMH)
Location: Slough Hours: Full-time, term-time Start Date: ASAP We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist primary setting that supports children aged 4–11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate, resilient and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact in a highly supportive environment. About the Role As a SEND TA, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with a range of SEMH needs, helping them to develop confidence, emotional regulation and positive relationships. You will play a key role in promoting engagement with learning and supporting children to manage their behaviour in a safe and constructive way. Responsibilities • Provide classroom support to pupils with SEMH needs • Help pupils develop self-confidence, emotional awareness and positive interactions • Support behaviour regulation strategies under the guidance of teaching staff • Assist in delivering a differentiated and engaging curriculum • Build supportive relationships with pupils, staff and families • Contribute to a positive, nurturing and structured learning environment About You • Experience working with children with SEND, ideally SEMH • Calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour • Ability to build trust and strong relationships • Flexible, proactive and committed to supporting pupils’ wellbeing and progress • Strong communication and teamwork skills What the School Offers • A supportive, specialist environment focused on holistic pupil development • A varied and engaging curriculum adapted to individual needs • Opportunities to engage in enrichment activities such as sports, enterprise and community events If you are passionate about supporting children with SEMH needs and want to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
