Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD Focus (Primary SEND School)
Location: Greenford
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45 AM – 3:45 PM
Start Date: March 2025
Commitment: Full Academic Year
Axcis is recruiting on behalf of a well-resourced and inclusive SEND Primary School in Greenford. The school caters to 148 pupils with a range of special educational needs including ASD, General Developmental Delay (GDD), and visual and hearing impairments.
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a nurturing environment that promotes engagement, safety, and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide in-class support in small groups (approx. 8 pupils) alongside one teacher and three TAs.
-Assist children with GDD and sensory needs, including moving & handling (e.g., hoisting).
-Support both verbal and non-verbal pupils, helping to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours.-
-Use alternative communication methods such as PECS and Makaton.
-Deliver personal care support, including toileting and hygiene, where required.
Requirements:
-Previous experience working in an SEN setting is essential.
-Confidence using PECS and understanding of sensory needs.
-Comfortable supporting pupils with personal care and managing behaviour supportively.
-Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
-Commitment to working full-time for the full academic year.
