We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team in Preston, Lancashire. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the learning and development of children with a range of special educational needs within a classroom setting.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher to plan, deliver and assess tailored learning activities that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND.
- Provide one-to-one support and small group interventions for students with SEND to help them engage fully in the curriculum.
- Assist in creating a nurturing and supportive educational environment that enables all learners to flourish.
- Use a range of strategies and resources, including bespoke educational plans (IEPs), to maximise pupil progress and attainment.
- Support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of pupils, providing guidance in accordance with school policies.
- Observe and record student progress, sharing information with teachers, parents, and professionals involved in the students' education plan.
- Facilitate communication between students with SEND and their peers to encourage social integration and mutual understanding.
- Manage classroom resources and provide administrative support when needed.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings as well as relevant training and professional development sessions.
**Qualifications & Skills:**
- NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or related field.
- Previous experience working with children with SEND in a classroom setting is preferred.
- Understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to the safety and well-being of children.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, children, and parents.
- Ability to adapt to different educational settings and work flexibly with varying age groups.
- Proficient in English and Maths.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging attitude towards student learning and development.
- Capability to work as part of a team as well as independently using one's own initiative.
