Axcis Education is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Rugby from September. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and behavioural challenges. You'll play a pivotal role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom. The school benefits from a well-established specialist SEND provision, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm, supporting pupils aged 7-11 years across both specialist and mainstream settings. The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support pupils with SEND across the school's specialist provision and mainstream classrooms • Work closely with children with Autism (ASC), SEMH needs, and behavioural difficulties • Deliver tailored 1:1 support and small group interventions • Assist in implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles • Develop positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families • Encourage emotional regulation, engagement, and positive behaviour • Support communication, social skills, and personal development • Assist with personal care where required • Help create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment What We're Looking For We would love to hear from candidates who have: • Previous experience supporting children with Autism, SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs • Experience within schools, childcare settings, youth work, residential care, or support work • Strong behaviour management and communication skills • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people • An understanding of EHCPs and individualised support strategies (desirable) • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one • Availability to commit to a full-time role, Monday to Friday Why Join Axcis Education?
