Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND School Location: Wimborne, Dorset Start Date: October 2026 Pay: £95–£100 per day Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30 Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role within a specialist SEND setting? A highly regarded all-through SEND school in Wimborne is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from October 2026. The school supports pupils aged 4–19 with a range of SEND, including ASC, SEMH, ADHD, communication difficulties and additional learning needs. With a nurturing ethos and a strong focus on individualised support, the school provides a structured and positive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop their confidence, independence and life skills. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who is passionate about SEND and wants to make a genuine difference to children and young people. The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to: Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND Support pupils to access learning and achieve their individual EHCP targets Assist with personalised learning programmes and interventions Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development Encourage communication, independence and confidence Provide consistency, structure and reassurance throughout the school day Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider professionals Help maintain a safe, calm and supportive learning environment The Ideal Candidate The school is looking for someone who: Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND Has a good understanding of ASC, SEMH, ADHD or communication needs Is calm, patient, resilient and consistent Can build strong and positive relationships with pupils Is confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation Is proactive and able to adapt their approach to individual needs Works well as part of a wider multidisciplinary team Is reliable, enthusiastic and committed to supporting young people Is passionate about helping pupils achieve their potential Experience within a specialist SEND school, alternative provision, residential setting or similar environment would be highly beneficial.
