SEND Teaching Assistant Job in Bromsgrove
Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school near Bromsgrove. This full-time opportunity is ideal for candidates who have experience supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and are looking to build a rewarding career within specialist education.
The school caters for pupils aged 4-19 years with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), communication difficulties, sensory needs, and learning disabilities. Staff work together to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every learner is supported to achieve their individual goals.
This role would suit experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Care Workers, Support Workers, Youth Workers, Residential Support Workers, or individuals with a background in education, care, or children's services.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support pupils aged 4-19 with a range of SEND needs.
• Work on a 1:1 basis and with small groups of students.
• Help pupils access learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
• Support students' communication, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
• Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Follow behaviour support plans, EHCP targets, and individual learning strategies.
• Promote a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
Requirements
To be considered for this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you should have:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Experience supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, complex learning difficulties, or additional needs.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A willingness to provide personal care support where necessary.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday.
