Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Youth Worker or Nursery Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?
Axcis Education is currently recruiting caring, patient and dedicated individuals to join a specialist school in Plymouth. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience supporting children or vulnerable adults and are looking to build a career within education.
This could be an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in care, youth work, nursery, support work or healthcare, as long as you have experience working with vulnerable individuals and are confident supporting children with additional needs.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and SEMH.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support based on individual needs.
• Work closely with teachers and other professionals to support learning and development.
• Encourage pupils' independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
• Help create a safe, positive and nurturing environment.
• Adapt your communication and approach to suit different children's needs.
• Support pupils with their social, emotional and educational development.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for candidates who:
• Have experience working with vulnerable children or vulnerable adults – this is essential.
• Have experience supporting individuals with SEND, autism, speech and language needs, ADHD, learning disabilities or other additional needs.
• Are caring, patient, compassionate and reliable.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can build positive relationships with children and young people.
• Are confident adapting their approach to meet individual needs.
• Are passionate about helping children develop and reach their potential.
• Can commit to either full-time or part-time work.
Backgrounds We're Interested In
You do not need to have previously worked as a Teaching Assistant. We would be particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience as:
• Youth Workers
• Nursery Assistants / Nursery Practitioners
• Support Workers
• Care Assistants
• Healthcare Assistants
• Residential Support Workers
• Teaching Assistants / Learning Support Assistants
• Childcare Practitioners
• Other professionals with relevant experience supporting vulnerable children or adults
Previous experience working with autism, speech and language difficulties or other SEND needs would be highly beneficial.
