Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistants
Axcis Education are working with a specialist secondary school based in Wakefield, the school are looking for an experience SEND Teaching Assistant on a day to day and long term basis. The school caters to students aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs, including severe, complex, or profound multiple learning difficulties. Many of the students also have additional needs such as autism, sensory impairment, challenging behaviours, as well as medical and physical difficulties. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities! Key Responsibilities: Work closely with class teachers and other professionals to develop and implement strategies that support the diverse learning needs of students. Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND, helping to address barriers to learning and fostering their academic and social development. Use behaviour management techniques to create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Support social interactions and help develop peer relationships within the classroom. Encourage independence and self-confidence in students with complex needs. Essential Requirements: Previous experience working with SEND students, ideally in an educational setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with students and staff. Patient, empathetic, and adaptable to meet the individual needs of students. Experience using de-escalation techniques to support students in times of crisis, up to date team teach training is highly desirable. Up to date manual Handling Training is highly desirable.
