SEMH Teaching Assistant – Primary ARP – Barking & Dagenham £100–£115 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Start After October Half Term Axcis Education is recruiting a confident and nurturing SEMH Teaching Assistant to work within a primary school in Barking & Dagenham, supporting pupils within the school’s Additional Resource Provision (ARP). This is a full-time, long-term role starting after the October half term, working with children who may need additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour, engagement and accessing learning. The school is looking for someone who can build strong relationships while maintaining clear routines, boundaries and expectations. The ideal candidate will understand that behaviour is often a form of communication and will be able to remain calm, patient and consistent when pupils are struggling to regulate. About the Role - Supporting pupils within a primary ARP - Working with children with SEMH and behavioural needs - Providing 1:1 and small-group support - Helping pupils recognise and manage their emotions - Supporting children through periods of dysregulation or challenging behaviour - Helping pupils re-engage with learning following difficult moments - Using positive reinforcement and consistent boundaries - Supporting classroom learning and targeted interventions - Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and the wider SEND team About You We would particularly like to hear from candidates who: - Have previous experience as a SEND TA, SEMH TA, LSA or Behaviour Support Assistant - Have supported children with SEMH, emotional regulation or challenging behaviour - Are confident working within a primary school or specialist SEND setting - Can remain calm and consistent when behaviour becomes challenging - Understand the importance of relationships, boundaries and predictable routines - Are proactive, resilient and able to use initiative - Can commit to a full-time, long-term role from after October half term The School & Location The role is based within a primary school in Barking & Dagenham, working as part of a supportive ARP team providing pupils with a more individualised and structured learning environment.
