Job Title: Teaching assistant - ADHD support
Axcis are looking for a caring, patient and reliable Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a student with ADHD in a mainstream school setting.
This is a great opportunity to work closely with a young person who needs a bit of extra guidance, encouragement and consistency to get the most out of their time at school. You’ll be based in either a primary or secondary classroom in Greater Manchester, working alongside teaching staff and the SEN team to help the student stay focused, feel supported and make progress.
What the role involves:
Providing daily one-to-one support for a pupil with ADHD, helping them to stay on task and manage classroom routines.
Supporting the student with learning activities, encouraging participation and keeping them engaged in lessons.
Working with teaching staff and the SENCO to put support strategies in place that are tailored to the student’s needs.
Helping to build the pupil’s confidence, independence and ability to work with others.
Providing feedback on progress and behaviour to staff and parents, as needed.
Promoting a calm, structured, and supportive environment that reduces distractions.
Following the school’s safeguarding procedures and supporting the wider school community where needed.
What we’re looking for:
Experience working with children or young people – ideally in a school or classroom setting.
A good understanding of ADHD and the types of support that help pupils with attention and behaviour challenges.
Someone who is patient, calm under pressure, and able to build positive relationships with young people.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A genuine interest in helping pupils succeed, both in and out of the classroom.
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or SEN experience is an advantage, but not essential.
You’ll need an enhanced DBS check (or be willing to get one before starting).
What we offer:
A supportive and friendly school environment where staff work together to support every child.
The chance to make a real difference in the life of a young person who needs consistent support.
Ongoing training and development opportunities, especially around SEN and ADHD strategies.
Competitive pay based on your skills and experience.
