This fantastic Barnet school is looking for a confident teaching assistant to join their friendly and vibrant team. Their dedicated staff members work tirelessly to support autistic students as well as students with other special educational needs, to ensure they are consistently receiving the individualised assistance they need to reach their full potential. In this role, you will work closely with classroom teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to support autistic students in their learning and development. Your responsibilities will include: • Providing one-to-one support to autistic pupils, both inside and outside the classroom. • Encouraging social skills development and promoting positive peer interactions. • Assisting with classroom activities, including academic lessons, sensory breaks, and structured play. • Collaborating with other members of the school staff, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists. Requirements: -Previous experience working with autistic children is essential. -Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs are desirable but not essential. -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues. -A positive and proactive attitude, with a passion for supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs. -Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
