Axcis have a vacancy for a SEND Teaching Assistant at a well respected specialist school in Cheltenham working with you people with complex needs aged 5 to 11.
This fantastic specialist school uses a range of innovative teaching methods to help their students make the most of their educational experience. It's a large and well resourced school with a fantastic atmosphere upon entering the grounds. Situated near Prestbury and with excellent links to public transport the school is easily accessible with a 5 minute walk from the local bus stop. They also have a large car park.
The role is five days a week, full time and will go on till the end of the academic year for the right candidate. The position is general in-class support - you may be expected to work one to one, in small groups or providing general in-class support as required. Experience of working with children with complex needs / ASD and challenging behaviour is essential. Further to this, those who have a Team Teach qualification are also encouraged to get in touch! Many of the children are non verbal and the ability to use Makaton would be highly advantageous also.
The hours are 8.45am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday and the role will start from the first week of September and will last to the end of the summer term if it is the right fit!
