The school is currently arranging trial days and is looking to secure the right candidate ahead of the September start. The Role This is a long-term, part-time opportunity supporting pupils within a High Needs class consisting of Reception and Key Stage 1 children. The pupils are verbal and require additional support to access learning, develop communication and social skills, and build independence throughout the school day. The successful candidate must be confident providing personal care when required and be committed to supporting pupils with dignity and respect. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team to provide consistent, structured support in a calm and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for Reception and KS1 pupils with additional needs. Support pupils to engage in learning and classroom activities. Assist with personal care as required, maintaining pupils' dignity and wellbeing at all times. Promote communication, independence, and positive social interactions. Implement behaviour support strategies and encourage positive routines. Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENDCo, therapists, and wider school staff. Monitor pupil progress and contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. Requirements The ideal candidate will have: Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly within EYFS or KS1. Confidence and willingness to provide personal care. A calm, patient, proactive, and resilient approach. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. Team Teach training (desirable but not essential). An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). Availability to work Wednesdays and Thursdays from September 2026.
