Job Title: Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEND Support) Location: Yeovil, Somerset Job Type: Full-Time About the Role: Pay: £90 a day PAYE We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive team in Yeovil, Somerset. The successful candidate will work on a 1:1 basis with a student in KS1 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), offering bespoke support and encouragement to facilitate their engagement with the curriculum and promote a positive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: - Provide tailored assistance to a designated student with SEND, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet their individual needs and abilities. - Collaborate with the class teacher to plan, organize, and deliver personalized learning activities. - Monitor and track the student’s progress, providing feedback and suggesting strategies for improvement. - Assist with the creation of an engaging and accessible learning environment, using a variety of techniques to stimulate the student’s interest and participation. - Employ patience, understanding, and creativity in addressing and overcoming any learning barriers the student may face. - Foster a relationship based on trust and mutual respect with the student, becoming a positive role model and mentor in their educational journey. - Support the student with social integration, including during breaks and extracurricular activities, to ensure a holistic approach to their development. - Participate in meetings and training sessions to maintain a current understanding of best practices in SEND support. - Liaise with parents, guardians, and professionals regarding the student’s progress and any concerns that may arise. Requirements: - A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent is highly regarded. - Prior experience working with children with SEND in an educational context is essential. - An empathetic and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. - The ability to work independently as well as part of a team. - A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to engage in further training. - A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
