Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant (SEND Specialist) Location: Poole, Dorset Position: Full-Time A reputable educational institution in Poole, Dorset, is currently seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to join their team. This full-time role will involve providing one-to-one support to a Year 2 pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Job Responsibilities: - Work closely and interactively with a Year 2 pupil on the autism spectrum, facilitating social, academic, and personal development. - Develop and implement individualized learning plans tailored to the student's strengths and areas for growth. - Utilize effective strategies to engage the student and encourage positive behavior in line with their educational and personal goals. - Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the pupil's self-confidence and independence. - Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educational needs coordinators (SENCO), and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to the student's education. - Monitor and document the student's progress, providing feedback and suggesting adaptations to learning approaches as needed. - Assist in the creation of visual aids and specialized resources to support the student's understanding and engagement with the curriculum. - Participate in regular professional development to stay informed about best practices in supporting students with ASC. Key Requirements: - Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, with specific experience supporting pupils with ASC. - Familiarity with the challenges and strategies for teaching and supporting children with autism in an educational setting. - Commitment to creating a nurturing and stimulating environment tailored to the needs of children with SEN. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to form positive relationships with children, colleagues, and parents. - A patient and understanding demeanor with the ability to remain calm and composed in varied situations. - Professional qualifications relevant to the teaching assistant role or SEND support are highly desirable.
