Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant first school located in Salisbury, Wiltshire. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the educational development of children by working 1:1 with a student with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in a child's learning journey and managing behaviour effectively within a classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a student with SEND, ensuring that their educational needs are met with patience, understanding and positive reinforcement.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment by recognizing and adapting to the specific needs of the student.
- Implement strategies to manage behaviour effectively, maintaining a calm and safe classroom atmosphere.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of educational materials and activities tailored to support the student's learning goals.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEND professionals to monitor the student's progress and contribute to their individual learning plan.
- Encourage social interaction and participation in classroom activities to promote the student's confidence and engagement.
- Support the student in developing skills for independence in both academic and social settings.
- Maintain accurate records of the student's performance, behaviour, and progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working with children with SEND is preferable.
- An understanding of the various challenges faced by students with SEND and a commitment to inclusive education.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff and parents.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude are essential.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain student confidentiality.
- The ability to work as part of a team and to follow the school's policies and procedures.
- Willingness to undergo training and professional development as part of the role.
- Enhanced DBS clearance is mandatory for this role.
