Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialized all-boys primary school in the heart of Templecombe, Somerset. This role is ideal for those who are passionate about supporting young learners and have experience working with children who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the provision of a supportive and nurturing learning environment tailored to the needs of pupils with SEMH.
- Work collaboratively with the lead teacher to implement lesson plans and educational activities.
- Offer one-to-one support to pupils, focusing on their individual learning objectives and emotional development.
- Observe and manage classroom behaviors, implementing agreed-on strategies to promote positive outcomes.
- Facilitate social interaction and participation amongst pupils to encourage a cohesive class dynamic.
- Help prepare classroom materials, set up equipment, and maintain a clean and organized learning environment.
- Provide feedback on pupil progress to the lead teacher and contribute to pupil evaluations and reports as necessary.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development activities as required by the school.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Will have experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with children who have SEMH needs.
- Must possess an Enhanced DBS check, or be willing to undergo this screening.
- Should have a nurturing and patient disposition, with a strong commitment to child development and learning.
- Must be able to establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
- Should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Should be flexible, adaptablean d ready to face the challenges of a dynamic classroom environment.
