A specialist all-through school in Reading is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This rewarding, full-time role offers the chance to support pupils aged 4–19 with diverse and complex needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Your day-to-day will include: ? Supporting pupils individually and in small groups to help them engage with lessons and daily routines ? Helping implement personalised learning strategies, communication tools and sensory activities ? Assisting with personal care and mobility needs respectfully and professionally ? Encouraging social interaction and emotional regulation, both in class and during breaks ? Creating visual aids and adapting resources to meet individual learning styles ? Supporting pupils during therapy sessions, educational visits and community activities ? Promoting independence in life skills, such as using classroom equipment or preparing snacks ? Contributing to daily records and observations to share with teachers, therapists and parents ? Collaborating with teaching staff and other professionals to provide consistent, pupil-centred support About you: ? At least three months of experience working with children or young people with SEND (education, care or youth work) ? Calm, flexible and resilient when supporting pupils with varied and sometimes complex needs ? Confident working across different age groups and classroom settings ? Willing and able to support personal care needs ? Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-first attitude ? TA Level 2 qualification welcomed but not essential ?
