An all-through specialist SEND school in Kingston is looking to appoint a committed Teaching Assistant to support children and young people aged 4–19 with severe and complex learning needs. This is a full-time, term-time position (Monday to Friday) with an immediate start, running for the duration of the academic year.
Role Overview
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work as part of a dynamic and supportive team to help pupils with a wide range of learning challenges reach their full potential. Your work will focus on enabling students to engage with the curriculum and develop key life skills.
Main responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with severe and complex needs
Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes and sensory-based activities
Support communication, mobility, personal care, and social interaction
Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support strategies
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
Candidate Profile
We welcome applicants who are:
Experienced in, or passionate about, working with children and young people with severe and complex learning disabilities
Patient, empathetic, and strong communicators
Effective team players, able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary setting
Holders of a relevant TA qualification or prior SEND experience (preferred but not essential)
This role requires an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references prior to appointment.
