About the Role
Axcis is recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a well-regarded mainstream primary school in Hillingdon, Uxbridge.
This full-time position involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism (ASD). The ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting children with Autism and ADHD, particularly within a mainstream setting, and be confident managing challenging behaviour.
The school is seeking someone who can be firm but fair — setting clear, consistent boundaries while maintaining a calm, nurturing, and supportive approach.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a child’s educational journey, with the potential for the role to become permanent after the initial year.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide consistent 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with ASD within the classroom
-Set clear expectations and manage challenging behaviour effectively
-Work collaboratively with the class teacher to implement tailored learning strategies
-Build positive, trusting relationships with the pupil, staff, and parents
-Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and academic development
-Encourage engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
Requirements
-Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
-Proven experience supporting children with ASD and ADHD in a mainstream school
-Strong behaviour management skills
-Experience supporting SEMH needs (highly desirable)
-Excellent communication skills
-Patient, proactive, and resilient approach
-Full-time availability (Monday to Friday, 08:30am – 4:00pm) with commitment for the full academic year
