Job Title: Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – 1:1 SEMH Support – Primary – Barking & Dagenham
£95–£110 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term
Axcis are working closely with a supportive and well-led primary school in Barking & Dagenham who are seeking a confident and patient SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis with SEMH needs.
This is a relationship-led role where consistency, trust and emotional awareness are key. The school has a strong pastoral team and clear behaviour systems in place, ensuring staff feel supported and pupils are given the structure they need to succeed.
About the Role
You will be supporting a pupil who requires additional emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day.
You will:
• Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
• Support emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
• Encourage engagement in learning activities
• Help the pupil access the curriculum in a calm and structured way
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO

• Experience supporting SEMH or challenging behaviour
• Calm, consistent and resilient approach
• Strong relationship-building skills
• Ability to remain patient under pressure
