SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Autism Support (KS1) Location: Hillingdon, Uxbridge Start Date: September 2026 Trial Days: Available ASAP Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (Potential Permanent Opportunity) Working Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 4:00pm Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience About the School Axcis Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-regarded mainstream primary school in Hillingdon, Uxbridge, to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting in September 2026. The Role This rewarding role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within a mainstream classroom setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development, helping them engage positively in school life and progress throughout their educational journey. The school is seeking someone who can build positive relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries. You will need to be calm, resilient, patient, and confident in managing behaviour, using a firm but fair approach that supports the child's individual needs. This position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on a child's early education, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Provide consistent and structured 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism. Support the pupil in accessing learning and participating fully in classroom activities. Implement tailored learning, communication, and behaviour strategies. Promote positive behaviour through clear expectations and consistent routines. Support the child's social, emotional, and academic development. Encourage independence, confidence, and positive peer interactions. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff to ensure the best outcomes for the pupil. Build positive and professional relationships with parents and carers. Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) within a mainstream primary school setting. Experience supporting pupils with ADHD and additional behavioural needs. Strong behaviour management skills and confidence in setting boundaries. Experience supporting SEMH needs (highly desirable). A patient, resilient, and proactive approach. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). Full-time availability from September 2026. Availability to attend trial days immediately. Why Join This School?
