Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education is recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Ormskirk from September. This is a full-time Teaching Assistant position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, and offers an excellent opportunity to support a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a long-term role.
There is also the potential for a permanent contract for the successful candidate, depending on the school's ongoing staffing needs.
About the Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a Year 4 pupil with learning difficulties and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The pupil is currently working below age-related expectations and requires additional support to help build confidence, develop key skills, and make positive progress in the classroom.
The school is looking for a caring, patient, and proactive individual who can build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil while encouraging engagement, confidence, and independence.
Alongside your 1:1 SEND support, you may also be asked to assist with:
• Small group interventions
• General classroom support
• Learning activities across the class when required

Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this Teaching Assistant job in Ormskirk, you should have:
• Previous experience working with children
• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly learning difficulties or SEMH needs
• Experience in a school, care, coaching, youth work, or similar child-focused setting
• A patient, reliable, and proactive approach
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Axcis Education
