Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and helping them to reach their full potential? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team at a dynamic special school setting in Salisbury. If you possess an empathetic disposition and the drive to positively impact the lives of students with multiple learning disabilities, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Provide general support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in classroom settings across Key Stages 1 to 5.
- Work collaboratively with the teaching staff to implement educational and therapeutic programs tailored to individual student needs.
- Facilitate social and emotional development through appropriate interaction and encouragement.
- Support the management of student behaviour to ensure a constructive learning environment.
- Assist with the preparation of teaching materials, resources, and the classroom setup.
- Participate in the monitoring and recording of student progress, contributing to review meetings as required.
- Help with the care needs of students, which may include aspects of personal hygiene and feeding under the direction of teachers and support staff.
- Accompany and support students during educational outings and school activities.
- Assist with the organization and storage of equipment and supplies.
- Adhere to school policies, including safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
Requirements:
- A patient, caring, and resilient personality.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, suitable for working with children and young adults.
- A commitment to understanding and supporting children with multiple learning disabilities.
- The ability to work as part of a team and under the guidance of qualified professionals.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- A willingness to undertake appropriate training and professional development.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one upon employment.
Preferred, but not essential:
- Previous experience in a care or educational setting supporting individuals with SEND.
- An understanding of the varying needs and requirements associated with different key stages, from KS1 to KS5.
