Job Title: Special Needs Support Worker (Agency/Supply) – Part-Time, Day-to-Day Location: Preston, Lancashire About the Role: We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Support Workers to join our agency on a part-time, day-to-day basis. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of individuals with special needs by providing tailored support and assistance at various settings across Preston, Lancashire. Key Responsibilities: - Work in a variety of settings, including special educational needs (SEN) schools, care homes, and community centres, adapting to the needs of each individual environment. - Support children and adults with a range of special needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and behavioural challenges. - Assist with the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and personal care plans. - Provide one-to-one support, group support, and whole-class assistance under the direction of the lead teacher or care coordinator. - Encourage independence, social integration, and participation in a range of activities. - Utilise appropriate communication strategies and tools to engage effectively with service users. - Monitor and report on the progress of individuals, providing feedback to teaching staff, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. - Ensure the safety and well-being of all service users, adhering to safeguarding policies and guidelines. - Attend and contribute to team meetings and professional development sessions. Ideal Candidate: - Experience in a support worker role, preferably within special needs settings. - Relevant qualification in health and social care, education, or similar field (NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent) is desirable. - Understanding of SEN, including experience with various conditions and the ability to adapt to specific requirements. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach. - A proactive, resourceful individual who can work flexibly and independently. - Commitment to inclusive practices and equal opportunities. - Enhanced DBS check (or willing to undergo one). - Commitment to ongoing professional development.
