The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children with autism and be able to implement strategies that promote learning, independence, and well-being. This school is a dynamic and inclusive special school dedicated to providing high-quality education and support for children and young people with a range of special educational needs. The school cater to children and young adults between the ages of 4 and 18 and are looking for a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team. Key Responsibilities: • Provide 1:1 and small group support to children and young people with autism in a classroom setting. • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies. • Support students in developing social, communication, and life skills. • Encourage students' engagement with learning activities, using creative and tailored approaches. • Support teachers in planning and delivering lessons that meet the individual needs of students. • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. • Maintain records of student progress and assist in reporting to parents and external agencies. • Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists, and outside agencies to ensure the best outcomes for each student. Essential Criteria: • Experience working with children or young people with autism or other special educational needs. • A strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and strategies for supporting children with autism. • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies to support positive behaviour. • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to individual student needs. • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the needs of the students. • Experience working in a special education setting is desirable, but not essential. • Relevant qualifications (e.g., TA qualification, SEN experience) are beneficial but not essential.
