Location: Skelmersdale Job Type: Agency, temporary Start Date: ASAP Salary: Day rate from £83.40 depending on experience Closing Date for Applications: 31/01/25 Axcis Education are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) to work with students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children with autism and be able to implement strategies that promote learning, independence, and well-being. This school is a dynamic and inclusive special school dedicated to providing high-quality education and support for children and young people with a range of special educational needs. The school cater to children and young adults between the ages of 4 and 18 and are looking for a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team. Key Responsibilities: • Provide 1:1 and small group support to children and young people with autism in a classroom setting. • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies. • Support students in developing social, communication, and life skills. • Encourage students' engagement with learning activities, using creative and tailored approaches. • Support teachers in planning and delivering lessons that meet the individual needs of students. • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. • Maintain records of student progress and assist in reporting to parents and external agencies. • Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists, and outside agencies to ensure the best outcomes for each student. Essential Criteria: • Experience working with children or young people with autism or other special educational needs. • A strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and strategies for supporting children with autism. • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies to support positive behaviour. • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to individual student needs. • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the needs of the students. • Experience working in a special education setting is desirable, but not essential. • Relevant qualifications (e.g., TA qualification, SEN experience) are beneficial but not essential.
